SOUTH CAROLINA CONTRACTOR LICENSING
The State of South Carolina requires that anyone responsible for the general contracting of any residential or commercial project in excess of $5,000 must be licensed by the appropriate state agency. Licensing of Residential Builders is under the auspices of the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission. Licenses for Limited and Unlimited Building Contractors are administered under the authority of the South Carolina Contractors Licensing Board.
PROFILE OF AN UNLIMITED BUILDING CONTRACTOR IN SOUTH CAROLINA (NASCLA)
A licensed South Carolina Unlimited Building Contractor may engage in, or propose to engage in, the construction of commercial and residential buildings without limitations to size. The license requirement process including passing the Business & Law exam, financial qualifications and experience requirements are the same as the SC Limited Building Contractor License.

PROFILE OF A LIMITED BUILDING CONTRACTOR IN SOUTH CAROLINA
A licensed South Carolina Limited Building Contractor may engage in, or propose to engage in, the construction of commercial and residential buildings up to three stories high.

PROFILE OF A RESIDENTIAL BUILDER IN SOUTH CAROLINA
A licensed Residential Builder may engage in, or offer to engage in, the construction, repair or refurbishment of residential buildings up to three stories high. Those buildings are limited to single or multiple family residences with up to 16 separate residences in a single building.
