The State of Alabama uses the NASCLA Accredited Contractor Exam to test for its highest license classification of Alabama Building Construction. You can read more about the NASCLA Exam and procedures on the NASCLA tab.
In addition to passing this exam, you must meet all other application requirements issued by the State Licensing Board. In Alabama, this currently includes;
- Submitting a financial statement, which must be completed by a CPA, less than 12 months’ old
- Verification of 3 years’ experience and;
- Passing score on the separate Alabama Business Law exam
Note that project financial limits are based on the applicants’ net worth and working capital (whichever is lower). Currently, the minimum net worth for the lowest financial limit in Alabama is $10,000.
Except for licenses qualifying as “unlimited”, an applicant’s maximum bid limit shall be set by the formula of not more than ten times either the net worth or working capital, whichever is the lesser amount.
